Air Niugini successfully hosts Sales Conference

February 22, 2019

Air Niugini has successfully hosted a two day sales conference in Port Moresby last week, attended by the airline’s domestic and international sales teams together with General Sales Agents (GSAs) or partners from around the world.

It was an opportunity for the sales teams to review their past performances and also discuss issues they may encounter during their efforts to promote Air Niugini and Papua New Guinea, and suggest ways to address them.

Managers and team leaders from various areas within the commercial division at Air Niugini head office in Port Moresby were also present and responded to queries raised by the sales team. They included staff members from Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Yield Management, Scheduling, Maintenance, Flight Operations and many others.

Air Niugini’s Managing Director, Mr Alan Milne opened the conference and acknowledged the effort of all sales teams in selling the Air Niugini brand both here and abroad.

He also briefed the delegates on the new direction the airline is taking to improve and grow the airline moving forward.

He said “With the new transformation program Air Niugini is embarking on, we are trying to turn this very good airline into an even greater airline and as sales team, you are the front line, a crucially important part of the airline. Please make use of this opportunity to network and socialize as it is invaluable. We will give you all the support that you need to do your jobs and bring in the revenue.”

Air Niugini General Manager, Commercial Mr Dominic Kaumu said the GSAs and the entire sales team are a team of qualified airline and sales experts who are responsible for promoting and selling Air Niugini products within the country and the regions they operate in. He was happy to note that there were some GSAs who attended the conference for the first time in Port Moresby and also made an effort to visit certain parts of the country before attending the conference.

Mr Kaumu said“ We are pleased to note that some of our GSAs from Israel, Italy, US, South Korea, India, New Caledonia and New Zealand attended the conference for the first time. Although Air Niugini and PNG may be small in global terms, these people have now been able to experience and see for themselves the kind of products they are selling back in their countries and regions. The feedback we are getting is overwhelmingly positive; we couldn’t have done a better job, selling Papua New Guinea”

Seventeen (17) general sales agents attended the conference including those from the Pacific, Asia, Middle East, Europe and USA. Apart from Air Niugini, the GSAs or the airline’s global partners were also briefed on PNG’s ethnic and diverse culture.

Mr Kaumu also acknowledged PNG Tourism Promotion Authority for their continuous support and partnership with the airline. PNGTPA hosted a gala dinner for the conference participants which included traditional dance performances by the famous Huli Wigmen from Hela and the Buka bamboo band which kept our visitors on their toes – a great way to end their two day stay in the country.
