Baggage Labels

All checked-in baggage must have a name label. Name labels are available at all Air Niugini Sales Outlets and Check-in counters at the airport.

Locking Checked Baggage

It is recommended that passengers lock their checked baggage.  However, on occasion it may be necessary to open and inspect baggage due to our security screening process.  If your baggage is locked and you are not present to open it for Airport Security checks or in some countries, Government mandated additional security checks, the lock(s) may be broken by security screeners.

Air Niugini is unable to advise at the time of check-in if a passenger’s baggage will need to undergo additional security checks.

Air Niugini is not labile for damage to locks that must be opened for security purposes.

Missing/Delayed Baggage

If your baggage is not available for collection on arrival, you must immediately lodge a report to Baggage Services before you leave the airport. If you are unable to make a report before you leave, please ensure you engage a representative or contact us immediately.

Damaged Baggage

As part of our Conditions of Carriage, Air Niugini is not liable for any Damage to Fragile, Perishable or Valuable items checked in as baggage.
Air Niugini is not liable for minor damage caused to baggage due to normal wear and tear, including scratches or dents, damage to straps, hooks or other external features attached to the baggage.

In the United States, the Transportation Security Administration performs baggage inspections. Locks or fastening devices used on your baggage may be removed. If your baggage has been inspected, a written notification will be inserted in your baggage and you may contact them about the inspection via email.
Our Baggage Services office is located at the Jackson’s Domestic Terminal and is open from 0800-1700 hours, every day.
