Tabubil Airport(TBG). Tabubil is a planned, company operated township located in the Star Mountains, in the Western province. Western Province is located on the southwestern coast of Papua New Guinea. It covers a land area of 99, 300 square kilometers and has a population of 153, 304 people ( 2000 census). The town has one of the largest settlement in the province although the capital is in Daru and is similar in size. The well known Fly River also extends from the mine right through to the coast, and contributes to the livehood of the people located along it. Tabubil is set in extremely dense jungle fed by one of the highest rainfalls in the world. The town was established primarily to serve the former gold mine of Ok Tedi, which is currently mining copper. Air Niugini operates three flights in a week into the area.
