AIR NIUGINI RESUMES FLIGHTS TO TOKUA AIRPORT, RABAUL
Air Niugini wishes to inform the traveling public that the airline has resumed operations to Tokua airport, Rabaul East New Britain which came into effective on Sunday 13th December.
However, the public is advised that due to unpredictable nature of volcano and wind direction, any decision to suspend flights on a short notice must be expected.
The airspace over Tokua airport is being closely monitored and any decision to resume flights will depend greatly on the prevailing winds dispersing volcanic emission away from the aerodrome.
Air Niugini has resumed flights to Tokua airport after the airline temporarily suspended all flights since Monday 07th December following a change in wind direction (north westerly winds) which forced volcanic ash to fall in the aerodrome and surrounding areas.
