Air Niugini now has a new Executive Manager for its Human Resources Department. He is Mr Rei Logona who joins us from Solomon Airlines and has now replaced Ms Elsie Paisawa who has moved on to work on the airline’s special projects.
Chief Executive Officer, Mr Simon Foo when introducing Mr Logona to Air Niugini staff and the airline union executives last Thursday said Logona was not new to Air Niugini.
Mr Logona had worked in various areas within Air Niugini during his previous employment during which he spent 24 years with the Human Resource division before leaving for Solomon Airlines in 2007.
Mr Foo said “Logona is not new to Air Niugini and with his knowledge and experience, we look forward to working together to move the airline forward.”
From Tubusereia in the Central Province, Mr Logona said he was happy to be home and looked forward to the challenges, emphasizing that that Air Niugini has expanded a lot since he left six years ago.
“Air Niugini has changed a lot, the number of aircraft and routes have increased, more people have joined the airline, systems have been enhanced. It’s all good, I look forward to working together with everyone.”
He also expressed to the union executives that maintaining open and timely dialogue was important to ensure harmonious and mutual gains for all parties and that unions were an important partner.
The Union executives of the National Pilot Association, Engineers, Cabin Crew and the National Airlines Employees Association showed support for the new HR manager. They also thanked Ms Paisawa for successfully ironing out a lot of outstanding issues including their awards.
Ms Paisawa has moved onto taking on special projects including training and development of potential Managers for the CEO’s position, the managers on the second level down for the Senior and Executive Managers position, incentives for long serving staff and the National Housing scheme.
