Air Niugini Releases New DVD
Air Niugini has added yet another DVD title to its growing Destinations series with the release of a program on Rabaul.
Destinations: Rabaul looks at the war history of Rabaul and Kokopo in this the 70th anniversary year of the Second World War in Papua New Guinea.
Guest host of the DVD is Charlie Lynn, a former army major who served in Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia during his 21 years of service in the Australian armed forces.
The documentary follows Charlie during his first ever visit to Rabaul, a visit that gave him a greater understanding of the War in the Pacific and the origins of the Kokoda campaign.
While the program documents his first visit to Rabaul, Charlie is no stranger to war history in Papua New Guinea.
In 1991 he established Adventure Kokoda and began leading treks across the famous Kokoda Trail.
More than twenty years later, Charlie continues to trek Kokoda, sharing his insight and knowledge with his fellow trekkers.
To quote the DVD script “Charlie has led over 60 expeditions across the Kokoda Trail which must be some kind of record, and what he doesn’t know about Kokoda isn’t worth knowing. Except there is much more to the war in Papua New Guinea than just Kokoda…”
The program is the fifth in the Destinations series and the eighth Air Niugini program produced by Glenn Armstrong (other programs include Air Niugini’s Year in Review 2010 and 2011, and Air Niugini’s Uniform Launch 2010).
Other titles in the Destinations series are: Manus, Karawari, Singapore and Bensbach and all titles including the new Rabaul episode are available at Brian Bell stores within Papua New Guinea, as well as Air Niugini Duty Free from Monday September 3, 2012.
Air Niugini will release another two titles in the Destinations series by the end of 2012, as well as its annual Year in Review program.
Air Niugini is also planning to have all titles available as part of its new in-flight entertainment system due for release in the first half of 2013.
