The final day of the Singapore Airshow over the weekend(Saturday 07th Feb) marked an extraordinary milestone for Air Niugini, as aviation enthusiasts and the general public flocked in their hundreds to view our stunning Airbus A220-300 registration P2-PGA on static display at the Changi Exhibition Centre. This year’s Singapore Airshow—Asia-Pacific’s premier aerospace exhibition—combined business, innovation and public engagement in ways that both celebrated global aviation progress and highlighted Papua New Guinea’s vibrant culture.

Over the first four trade-only days, the event recorded a high attendance of approximately 65,000 industry visitors from more than 130 countries, underscoring the show’s continued importance as a global hub for aerospace networking and strategic business engagements. The final two days, including yesterday’s public open day, saw strong crowds who enthusiastically interacted with exhibitors, static aircraft displays and live demonstrations.

Air Niugini’s participation was made possible through our strong partnership with Airbus, following the purchase of three brand new, A220-300 aircraft so far of the total nine . Our specially-featured aircraft, P2 PGA in its stunning national colours of red, black and gold was used by Airbus as part of its global promotional showcase to potential customers, reflecting the aircraft’s versatility, efficiency and operational value—attributes that are helping shape the future of commercial aviation across the Asia-Pacific region.

A standout highlight throughout the entire five-day exhibition was the continuous performances by traditional dancers from the four regions of Papua New Guinea. Their colourful attire, captivating movements and warm engagement with visitors added a deeply cultural dimension to the event—drawing consistent crowds to the Air Niugini display area and prompting many attendees to queue for photos, conversations and interactions with our team.

Air Niugini acknowledges and thanks the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority and the performers themselves for their willingness and support to showcase Papua New Guinea at its very best. Their presence uniquely promoted both the airline and the rich cultural heritage of Papua New Guinea on an international stage. The younger visitors in particular showed strong interest, with many engaging with our pilots and crew with questions reflecting growing curiosity about both the airline and the country.

Air Niugini Board Chairman, Mr Karl Yalo said“We are truly humbled by the overwhelming response from visitors and partners at the Singapore Airshow. This platform has not only highlighted our commitment to modernising our fleet but has also allowed Papua New Guinea to share its culture with a global audience. Engagements like this are invaluable as we strengthen our regional footprint and celebrate our identity.”

The airline’s Officer-in-Charge Captain Samiu Taufa shared similar sentiments.  “The interaction we witnessed—between visitors, our crew, pilots and cultural performers—demonstrated the true spirit of aviation as a connector of people and cultures. Our presence here has elevated Air Niugini’s profile and generated genuine interest in our airline and our country.”

Air Niugini’s participation at the Singapore Airshow 2026 successfully blended aviation excellence with cultural storytelling, reinforcing its role as Papua New Guinea’s national carrier and an ambassador for our country. Air Niugini’s participation has not only boosted visibility for our expanding fleet and services but has further elevated Papua New Guinea on the global aviation and cultural map.
