Air Niugini Resumes Jet Operations To Kieta
Air Niugini will resume jet operations to Aropa airport in Kieta, Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB), effective Tuesday 18th December 2018. The recommencement of jet operations is made possible following the installation of Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) lights, which is a requirement for jet operations. PAPI lights are a visual aid that is generally located beside the runway that provides guidance information to help pilots maintain the correct approach to an airport.

Air Niugini Flights During APEC
Due to increased movement of personnel and aircraft at Port Moresby�s Jacksons International airport during the busy Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit, certain Air Niugini flights on the main APEC days, 17th, 18th and 19th November have been retimed to allow for movement of the world leaders and their entourage.Most of our flights are per the normal schedule, however morning operations on the 17th and 18th November to/from Port Moresby and Gurney, Kavieng, Rabaul, Madang, Lae and Cairns have been retimed to depart up to an hour later.

Successful Completion Of Inhouse Major Check On Fokker 70
Air Niugini�s Fokker 70 jet aircraft, P2 ANR is now serviceable and back in operation following the successful completion of the in-house C check, or heavy maintenance check, at the airline�s engineering hangar in Port Moresby.P2 ANR is the first ever Fokker 70 aircraft to have had a C check done in house, commencing in July this year. An assessment flight was successfully carried out on Monday 05th November and the aircraft is now back into service.

Repatriation Of Body
Air Niugini has confirmed that, yesterday Sunday 7 October, the repatriation of the body of the deceased passenger from PX 073, Mr Eko Cahyanto Singgih began the trip to his family’s home village in Java, Indonesia. On Sunday morning, at Chuuk airport a little before 04.30 local time, government representatives from the highest levels of the Federated States of Micronesia attended a solemn ceremony as the body was boarded onto Flight PX 5071 for the first part of the journey to Port Moresby, arriving at Jacksons International Airport at little over 3 hours later.

Memorial Service
Air Niugini Board, Management and staff together with some members of the diplomatic corps attended a memorial service at Air Niugini Headquarters in Port Moresby this morning (Friday 05th October) to mark the passing of seven days since the tragic accident of flight PX-073 and to express sympathy towards the passenger who lost his life.

It is with deep sadness I confirm that the body of a male passenger was discovered by divers today as they conducted a further search of P2-PXE and the surrounding area in the Chuuk Lagoon.This is the unaccounted passenger from the aircraft. Air Niugini�s Inhouse C Check Nearing Completion
Air Niugini�s inhouse C checks or heavy maintenance checks on its jet aircraft at the airline�s engineering hangar in Port Moresby is nearing completion, a result of great team work that is saving Air Niugini millions of kina.Two heavy maintenance �checks� are being carried out at the moment, one on Fokker 70 aircraft, P2-ANR which commenced in July this year and is on target to be completed by October and the other on Fokker 100, P2-ANU expected to be completed by the end of November. P2-ANR is the first ever Fokker 70 check being carried out in-house.

Air Niugini Commences Japan/Chuuk Services
Air Niugini has launched its first direct flight between Narita, Japan and Chuuk in the Federated States of Micronesia(FSM) on Saturday 01st September, 2018.Sixty (60) passengers mostly Japanese tourists boarded the first flight out of Narita destined for Chuuk on Saturday night, arriving in Chuuk early Sunday morning. On arrival in Chuuk, a further 60 passengers, comprising a large number of divers joined the flight to Port Moresby from where most passengers continued to other Air Niugini destinations in PNG and Australia.

New Cargo Initiative For Lae
Air Niugini and Express Freight Management(EFM) have jointly announced a new initiative recently which allows for pick up and delivery of all Lae destined Cargo in Lae city instead of Nadzab airport.Under the agreement, both parties have indicated that from 01st September 2018, Air Niugini Cargo will be assisting businesses and the public of Morobe Province, mainly Lae City, with a split rates system using the current code of Lae to unload all Cargo at Nadzab (NZB) airport. These cargo will then be picked up by EFM and delivered to a designated point of collection in Lae city, which is EFM�s hardware house for customers to pick them.
