Air Niugini Resumes Singapore and Brisbane Flights with Boeing 767
Air Niugini’s Boeing 767 aircraft have now resumed operations on the airline’s Brisbane and Singapore flights following the completion of scheduled heavy maintenance checks. Over the past six months both our 767 aircraft underwent scheduled C-check maintenance, starting with P2-PXV which returned to service in January, and followed by P2-PXW which returned to service on 20th April. The maintenance included a complete refurbishment of the passenger cabins and lavatories.

Air Niugini wishes to advise our valued customers that the airline has resumed flights to Cairns airport, Australia since yesterday, Tuesday 19th December. Flight PX 98 departed Port Moresby for Cairns yesterday afternoon and returned last night with passengers disrupted from the previous flights. This is followed by normal scheduled operations today.

Flight Disruptions to Mt. Hagen Due to Unserviceable Firefighting Equipment
Air Niugini’s flight to Kagamuga airport, Mt Hagen this morning (PX 180) and those from yesterday afternoon, PX 186 and PX 188 were disrupted due to unserviceable vehicles responsible for Rescue Fire Fighting Services(RFF). It’s mandatory for the airport authority to ensure these services are available and operational prior to airlines operating into the area, in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Air Niugini Downgrades Flights to Tokua
Air Niugini wishes to advise our valued customers that all our flights to Tokua airport, Rabaul East New Britain have been downgraded to Dash 8 operations due to poor runway conditions. National Airports Corporation(NAC) has issued a Notice to Airmen(NOTAM) to cease jet operations, effective today Tuesday 23rd May while the runway issue is being addressed. Air Niugini will advise when jet operations resume once we get feedback from NAC on the runway works. We regret the inconvenience caused, however the situation is beyond the airline’s control. Safety is always of paramount importance in Air Niugini’s operations.

Air Niugini Temporarily Suspends Flights to Tufi
Air Niugini has suspended all flights to Tufi airport, Oro Province following a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by PNG Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), closing the airport to aircraft which have more than 20 seats. The suspension comes into effect this morning, Friday 03rd February and will continue until further notice. Air Niugini has been operating twice weekly to Tufi, every Monday and Friday. We regret the inconvenience caused however, the situation is beyond the airline�s control. Safety is always of paramount importance in our operations.

Review of Air Niugini’s Flight Schedule Performance
Air Niugini management is working hard to reduce some recent effects on the airlines schedule which has been affected by several external factors. While the airline ended 2022 on a high note with excellent OTP (On Time Performance) the new year has to date not continued this trend.Air Niugini�s General Manager, Commercial Paul Abbot said that several factors have combined and as a result has unfortunately meant customers are seeing a higher number of disrupted or downgraded flights than the airline would like.
