
Update On Hoskins Operations – (Sat 06/07/19)
Air Niugini’s flight PX 7244 has operated into Hoskins airport, West New Britain this morning(Sat 06th July). This will be followed by a second flight, PX 209 this afternoon. This flight will determine the operation of Hoskins flights from tomorrow onwards. Air Niugini will continue to suspend flights overnighting in Hoskins. These flights will be rescheduled to operate the following day.

Hoskins Update – Bulletin No.5
Air Niugini’s flight, PX 7244/241 to Hoskins airport today, Monday 01st July has been cancelled. In addition, PX208 will not stop at Hoskins but will operate from Port Moresby to Lae and Rabaul. This follows a review of Hoskins operations yesterday(Sunday 30th June) which showed that there is still an unacceptable level of volcanic ash around the runway and taxiway.

Air Niugini has stopped all aircraft overnighting in Madang effective today, Friday 28th June due to the eruption of Manam volcano. Manam is the second volcano to have erupted just days after the eruption of Mt Ulawun in West New Britain. There will be no aircraft overnight in Madang this weekend while PX 112 on Saturday and Sunday will be rescheduled to the following day.

Mount Hagen Services Downgraded Effective From Sunday 23rd June 2019
Air Niugini services to Kagamuga airport, Mt Hagen Western Highlands Province will be operated by Link PNG Dash-8 aircraft from Sunday 23rd June until further notice. This is due to maintenance works on the runway by the National Airports Corporation (NAC). NAC has scheduled the next stage (Stage 4) of runway maintenance works to commence on 23rd June 2019, which means the runway will be temporarily shortened and therefore restricted to Dash-8 operations.

Air Niugini Ready To Take Up The Cairns/Hong Kong Route via Port Moresby
Air Niugini is ready to operate Cairns/Hong Kong route via Port Moresby using its wide body Boeing 767 aircraft, commencing in October this year.�Managing Director, Alan Milne made the airline�s capabilities known during a meeting with business leaders in Cairns recently.Air Niugini�s offer to take up the Cairns/Hong Kong route followed an earlier announcement by Cathay Pacific to cease flights on that route by October this year after operating for 25 years. Resumption Of Jet Services To Tokua Airport, Rabaul
Air Niugini has resumed its jet operations to Tokua airport, Rabaul since Saturday, 08th June 2019 following the completion of urgent maintenance works on the airport runway by the National Airports Corporation (NAC). Since 21st February this year, Air Niugini services to Rabaul were downgraded from Fokker 70/100 aircraft to Dash 8 with some schedule changes to Hoskins, Kavieng, Buka and Rabaul to cater for the unplanned maintenance works.
