Link PNG Meets World’s Best Practice
Link PNG, a subsidiary of Air Niugini Limited has been awarded gold status for the fifth consecutive year after successfully passing the Basic Aviation Risks Standards (BARS), an international Aviation Safety program. Q402 Aircraft Now Operates Tokua Flights Due To Runway Upgrade
Air Niugini wishes to advise the traveling public that all Fokker flights into Tokua airport, Rabaul are now being operated by the 76 seat Q402 and 50 seat DHC-8-315 aircraft. This is due to the current runway upgrade by the National Airport Corporation (NAC) which commenced on Monday 24th February, 2020. The runway upgrade was initially planned to take place on March 9th 2020 however following heavy rains, the works commenced earlier than the initial set date.

Air Niugini Renovates Foremen’s Technical Library
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) division recently opened a newly renovated technical library for its foremen. The new facility, which took four weeks to complete now stores manuals with vital information on correct maintenance methods and procedures which the GSE technicians can refer to when working on ground equipment. These include quality of workmanship in rebuilding and installation of parts, adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer maintenance procedures, and ordering of correct parts.

Air Niugini Continues Support For Annual Operation Open Heart
National airline, Air Niugini has continued its support for the annual Operation Open Heart (OOH) by airlifting the much needed medical equipment and supplies free of charge (FOC) from Australia to Papua New Guinea each year. This year was no different, three pallets of medical items and supplies weighing a total 286kg were uplifted FOC on PX 004 out of Brisbane to Port Moresby two weeks ago. They have been cleared and delivered to Port Moresby General Hospital (POMGH) by TNT this Tuesday for the operation to commence on Saturday, 15th February.

Air Niugini Working Closely With Authorities To Implement Measures Against Corona Virus
Air Niugini is working closely with the National Government and stake holders in the country, as well as those from the three entry points in Hong Kong, Singapore and Manila, to implement measures to mitigate the corona virus risk. As per the Government�s latest directive, Air Niugini will not uplift passengers who have been to Wuhan city or Hubei province during the last three weeks from any of the above three entry ports. However, there are no other restrictions on travel to PNG from any Asian port. Air Niugini does not operate direct flights to or from mainland China.

Air Niugini Delays Delivery Of Four 737 Max Jets Until At Least 2024
Air Niugini has updated its purchase contract with the Boeing Company to delay the delivery of the four Boeing 737 MAX jets it has on order until at least 2024, the airline�s Managing Director Alan Milne said on Tuesday. �The four 737 MAX jets were ordered in 2014, and the airline had originally been due to receive its first aircraft later this year. Mr Milne said, �This delay will give the airline more time to complete a broader review of its fleet plans, including a future replacement type for its smaller Fokker regional jets. This will then determine if the MAX is still appropriate for Air Niugini, or whether other Boeing products would better suit as a replacement for the airline�s existing Fokker, Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft types�.

Requirements For Passengers Travelling From PNG To Solomon Islands To Provide Proof Of Measles Vaccination
In an update issued by Solomon Islands Ministry of Health on January 2, 2020 PNG was added as one of the Measles �affected� countries, along with New Zealand. The original list of affected countries comprised American Samoa, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Australia and the Philippines. The Ministry of Health advise that it is mandatory to fill in a Traveller Health Declaration Card before entering the Solomon Islands. Proof of Vaccination will be in the form of a vaccine Card, vaccination records for proof of immunization for children, and medical certificate from a recognised medical practitioner/hospital.

Air Niugini Rready To Uplift Our Firefighters To Help Australia Battle Bushfires
Air Niugini is on standby to uplift Papua New Guinea firefighters free of charge who may be asked to travel to Australia to assist with the current effort to stop the spread of wildfires. These devastating fires have so far burned over 17 million acres of land, killed at least 25 people, half a billion animals and destroyed millions of dollars� worth of properties. The airline�s response is in support of the PNG Government�s offer to provide firefighters and Defence Force soldiers to combat the spread of fires, and adds to relief efforts being currently coordinated by the Australian Defence Force.

Air Niugini is now accepting PayPal and POLi payment methods for purchasing airline tickets online as a way to diversify payment options and part of the initiatives to enhance customer experience. Air Niugini General Manager, Commercial Services, Mr. Dominic Kaumu said introducing PayPal and POLi payment methods represents another important step in ensuring the valued customers are offered alternative payment options when purchasing tickets. He said, �For Air Niugini customers, this is an added convenience, especially for those existing PayPal and POLi customers who are used to their preferred payment method. These two alternative payment methods may also be welcomed by those who are still not comfortable about giving their credit card details away online.� The PayPal and POLi payments have been accepted since 8pm on Tuesday, 10th December.

Air Niugini Advises Public Traveling To Solomon Islands To Receive Measles Vaccination
Air Niugini wishes to advise the traveling public that passengers traveling to Solomon Islands are required to receive measles vaccination. This follows the current measles outbreak in several Pacific Island countries including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, American Samoa, Australia and New Zealand and also the Philippines. The Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) advise the following travel requirements and measures be implemented to ensure safety to citizens of Solomon Islands. All persons arriving in Solomon Islands will be required to complete a Traveler�s Public Health Declaration Card, which became effective from December 14, 2019.
