      The Aircraft Welder will be reporting to the Workshop Supervisor and responsible for performing precision welding and fabrication tasks on aircraft components, structures, and ground support equipment. This role requires expertise in various welding techniques and strict adherence to aviation standards, safety regulations, and technical specifications.

      Key Responsibilities:

      •  Perform TIG, MIG, and gas welding on aluminium, stainless steel, titanium, and other aerospace-grade metals.
      • Fabricate, repair, and modify aircraft parts, engine components, exhaust systems, and support equipment.
      • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures.
      • Inspect welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance with specifications.
      • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) preparations as required.
      • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and workstations in good condition.
      • Adhere to safety and quality standards, including personal protective equipment (PPE)usage and hazardous material handling.
      • Document all work performed in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
      • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other maintenance staff to plan and execute welding tasks.
      • Stay up to date with new welding techniques, aviation materials, and certification requirements.

      Qualifications, Experience and Skills required

      • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification in welding preferred.
      • Certified welder (AWS, CWB, or equivalent) with a focus on aerospace materials.
      • Minimum 2 years of experience in precision welding, preferably in an aerospace oraviation environment.
      • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding procedures, and blueprint reading.
      • Familiarity with aviation maintenance standards (e.g., CARs, FAA, EASA and CASAPNGRegulations).
      • Ability to work accurately with tight tolerances and under time constraints.
      • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

      Preferred:

      • FAA Repairman Certificate or equivalent, if applicable.
      • Experience in aircraft MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facilities.
      • Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

        Air Niugini is seeking to recruit a suitable qualified and experienced person to fill in the position of AME-Assistant Avionics within Aircraft support service Department – Aircraft Maintenance based in Port Moresby.

        The AME-Assistant (Avionics Shop) will be reporting to Avionics shop Supervisor and provide support in the maintenance, repair, installation, and testing of aircraft electronic and electrical systems. Working under the guidance of Licensed AMEs, the assistant ensures all avionics-related tasks are carried out in compliance with aviation regulations, safety procedures, and manufacturer specifications

        Key Responsibilities:

        • Assist in the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics systems including navigation, communication, flight instruments, and electrical wiring.
        • Support the removal and installation of electronic components, wiring harnesses, and connectors.
        • Help calibrate and test avionics units using specialised test equipment and tools.
        • Assist in performing continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and functionality verifications.
        • Maintain proper documentation of work performed in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
        • Ensure tools and test equipment are maintained, stored, and used properly.
        • Follow all safety guidelines, especially in working with live electrical systems and static-sensitive components.
        • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the avionics shop and work areas.
        • Report discrepancies or faulty components to the Licensed AME or Supervisor.

        The AME Assistant Battery shop will be reporting to the Workshop Supervisor and support the Battery Shop in maintaining, servicing, and overhauling aircraft batteries in accordance with approved maintenance procedures, safety standards, and aviation regulations. This role provides hands-on assistance in battery inspection, testing, charging, discharging, cleaning, and recordkeeping.

        Key Responsibilities:

        • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and servicing of aircraft batteries (Ni-Cd, Lead Acid, and Lithium types).
        • Carry out battery charging/discharging cycles using approved test equipment.
        • Clean battery components and terminals, ensuring proper electrolyte levels and cleanliness.
        • Label, store, and handle batteries in compliance with safety and hazardous material handling procedures.
        • Assist with inventory management of battery components and electrolyte chemicals.
        • Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately documented in maintenance records.
        • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the Battery Shop, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.

        The AME-Assistant Composite Shop reports to Composite Shop Supervisor and supports in inspection, repair, fabrication, and maintenance of aircraft composite components. Under the guidance of Licensed AMEs, the assistant ensures composite repair processes are executed in compliance with regulatory standards, technical documentation, and safety procedures.

        Key Responsibilities:

        • Assist in the inspection and assessment of damage on composite structures (e.g., carbon fiber, fiberglass, honeycomb panels).
        • Support the preparation and execution of composite repairs, including sanding, lay-up, vacuum bagging, curing, and trimming.
        • Clean and prepare work surfaces and materials in accordance with repair procedures.
        • Operate and maintain tools, ovens, autoclaves, and other composite processingequipment under supervision.
        • Mix resins, adhesives, and sealants per manufacturer specifications and safetyguidelines.
        • Assist in the fabrication of composite parts and assemblies using approved techniques.
        • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of repair activities in maintenance logsand shop records.

        Position Details and Requirements

        Air Niugini is seeking for a suitable qualified and experienced person to fill in the position of Aircraft Upholsterer within Aircraft Support Service Department – Aircraft Maintenance based in Port Moresby.

        The Aircraft Upholsterer will report to Workshop Supervisor and will be responsible for the repair, refurbishment, and installation of interior components and furnishings in aircraft cabins. This includes seats, sidewalls, carpets, headliners, and other soft goods, ensuring they meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.

        Key Responsibilities:

        • Inspect, remove, and install aircraft interior components such as seats, panels, curtains, and carpeting.
        • Reupholster seats and other furnishings using approved aviation-grade materials (leather, vinyl, fabric, foam, etc.).
        • Measure, cut, and sew upholstery materials using hand tools, sewing machines, and other equipment.
        • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with CASAPNG regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
        • Document all work performed, materials used, and inspections completed.
        • Work with engineers, designers, and other technicians to ensure interior modificationsmeet required standards.
        • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
        • Assist in inventory control of materials and tools.Qualifications, Experience and Skills required
        • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification in upholstery or aviation maintenance preferred.
        • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in upholstery, preferably in an aviation or automotive environment.
        • Familiarity with CASAPNG regulations and aircraft interior components is a plus.
        • Skilled in hand tools, sewing machines, and industrial upholstery techniques.
        • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
        • Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, or modification sheets.
        • Must be able to lift any items weighing up to NOT more than 10 kg and work in confined spaces when necessary.
