Air Niugini has provided ground handling services for a National Airlines Boeing 747 Freighter (B747F), an American cargo aircraft that arrived in Port Moresby last week, carrying more than 84 tonnes of cargo for Ok Tedi Mining Limited.

The aircraft arrived at Jacksons International Airport from Zhengzhou Xinzheng, China, at 2:40am on Wednesday, 19 August, carrying 84,117 kilograms of dry weather supplies. Following the safe and efficient discharge of cargo and completion of all required ground handling activities, the aircraft departed Port Moresby at 10:16am.

The operation represents one of the largest freight handling exercises undertaken by Air Niugini in recent months and underscores the airline’s capability to manage complex, large-scale cargo movements in support of key industries across Papua New Guinea.

Managing an aircraft of this size, together with more than 84 tonnes of freight, required extensive planning, stakeholder coordination and the seamless execution of ground handling operations.
