
Rabaul Services Will Be Temporarily Operated By Dash 8 From 22nd February 2019
ir Niugini services to Tokua airport, Rabaul East New Britain Province will be temporarily operated by Dash 8 aircraft instead of Fokker due to urgent maintenance works on the runway. The National Airports Corporation has advised that the runway maintenance will commence effective on Friday 22nd February with the initial works commencing on the night of 21st February and will continue until the 02nd April, subject to weather conditions. During this period all services to Rabaul will be operated by Dash 8 , the aircraft type that�s operated by Air Niugini�s sister company Link PNG.

Air Niugini Suspends Flights To Kieta
Air Niugini has suspended its services to Aropa airport, Kieta in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) this week due to removal and theft of the solar panels which power the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) lights at the airport. The flight suspension comes into effect tomorrow, Tuesday 12th February and will continue until further notice.

Air Niugini’s Father And Son Pilots Flying Together For The First Time
Two Air Niugini pilots have made history when they operated their� first commercial flight together as father and son last Friday, 01st February 2019.It was a proud moment for First Officer (FO), Christian Yates Round and Captain Mark Yates Round when the father � son duo proudly operated PX 208 on a Fokker 70 aircraft from Port Moresby to Lae, then Hoskins, Rabaul and back to Port Moresby. Following that, they also operated PX 244 that same afternoon from Port Moresby to Hoskins where the aircraft stayed over-night – this particular flight was made even more special, with Mrs Jernin Yates Round joining her husband and son as a passenger on the flight.

Due to increased movement of personnel and aircraft at Port Moresby�s Jacksons International airport during the busy Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit, certain Air Niugini flights on the main APEC days, 17th, 18th and 19th November have been retimed to allow for movement of the world leaders and their entourage.Most of our flights are per the normal schedule, however morning operations on the 17th and 18th November to/from Port Moresby and Gurney, Kavieng, Rabaul, Madang, Lae and Cairns have been retimed to depart up to an hour later.

Successful Completion Of Inhouse Major Check On Fokker 70
Air Niugini�s Fokker 70 jet aircraft, P2 ANR is now serviceable and back in operation following the successful completion of the in-house C check, or heavy maintenance check, at the airline�s engineering hangar in Port Moresby.P2 ANR is the first ever Fokker 70 aircraft to have had a C check done in house, commencing in July this year. An assessment flight was successfully carried out on Monday 05th November and the aircraft is now back into service.

Repatriation Of Body
Air Niugini has confirmed that, yesterday Sunday 7 October, the repatriation of the body of the deceased passenger from PX 073, Mr Eko Cahyanto Singgih began the trip to his family’s home village in Java, Indonesia. On Sunday morning, at Chuuk airport a little before 04.30 local time, government representatives from the highest levels of the Federated States of Micronesia attended a solemn ceremony as the body was boarded onto Flight PX 5071 for the first part of the journey to Port Moresby, arriving at Jacksons International Airport at little over 3 hours later.
