Air Niugini Offers Dangerous Goods Training To External Customers
Air Niugini is the only organization in the country offering Dangerous Goods(DG) training to external clients under the airline�s Part 141 training organization and issues certificates and licenses under Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Civil Aviation Rule(CAR) part 92. A recent DG training conducted at the airline�s training centre at 7 mile in Port Moresby saw a total twenty (20) participants from eight organisations, among them nine personnel from the Papua New Guinea Defense Force Air Transport Wing. Also in attendance were staff from Ok Tedi Mining Limited, Hevi-Lift PNG Limited, Central Aviation, Heli Solutions, Nacap PNG, Keris Cargo and Air Niugini.

Female Gets Top Post In Airport & Cargo Operations In Australia
Air Niugini has recently appointed Ms Maree Keygan as the Australian Airports Regional manager based at Cairns International airport in Cairns, Australia. Ms Keygan is not new to Air Niugini, having worked with the airline for 29 years, commencing in January 1990 as an International Travel advisor before moving to airport operations and recently with cargo being added to her portfolio.�She brings with her many years of experience to her new role where she is now primarily responsible for leading and managing all airport and cargo operations throughout Australia.

Air Niugini Awards Best Performing Ports
Air Niugini Madang was awarded for achieving the best � On Time Performance(OTP)� in the airline�s category A ports for the third quarter of 2019, maintaining the top spot since the beginning of this year. OTP is measured on the time taken for a scheduled flight to depart from a point of origin to the point of arrival. Air Niugini Managing Director, Alan Milne in presenting the award, congratulated Madang Port Manager, Henrick Senat and his team for an excellent job in maintaining their performance.

LinkPNG To Launch First Passenger Services To Komo, Hela
Link PNG, a subsidiary of Air Niugini will launch its first commercial passenger flights to Komo airport in Hela province effective, Tuesday 19th of November 2019. The schedule flights will initially operate twice a week, every Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing Port Moresby at 10: 15am and arriving in Komo at 11:45am. The return flight leaves Komo at 12:10pm, arriving back in Port Moresby by 1:40pm. All flights will be operated by Link PNG�s 50 seat Dash 8-315 aircraft.�

Air Niugini Receives IOSA Certificate
Air Niugini has successfully passed the International Air Transport Association�s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) once again, which now gives the airline validation for the next two years. From July 8 to 12, Air Niugini was subject to an IOSA Renewal Audit, conducted by Aviation Compliance Solutions (ACS), an audit organisation, accredited by IATA. IOSA seeks to ensure that airlines are compliant with safety requirements and recommended practices determined by IATA. The IOSA Program is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.

Air Niugini Trains More Rural Sales Agents
Air Niugini has successfully completed training for eight staff from the four recently appointed Rural Sales Agents (RSAs) who will represent the airline by providing its services including making reservations and selling airline tickets to people in rural communities. RSAs are local business men and women in rural communities whom Air Niugini has identified, trained and equipped with tools to act on behalf of the airline. This is part of Air Niugini�s focus on bringing its services closer to the people by allowing small to medium sized enterprises (SME) to be part of Air Niugini�s growth as the airline belongs to the people.

Air Niugini’s Inaugural Cairns/Pom/Hong Kong Flight
Air Niugini�s inaugural flight from Cairns to Hong Kong via Port Moresby today departed with 8.5 tonnes of live fish, fresh produce and aquarium coral onboard. The Boeing 767 wide body aircraft flew to Hong Kong via Port Moresby � one of two weekly flights operated by Air Niugini after the announcement with the Queensland Government last week. The flights are integral to the $75 million export industry to the Cairns region which includes local fresh produce and seafood; supporting about 180 jobs in Far North Queensland.

Air Niugini�s PX Falcons defeated Avenell Engineering Services (AES) by a close margin of 2 points lead, winning the pennant grand-final of the 2019 Corporate 9s in Port Moresby yesterday(Sunday, 27th October). The two teams braved the scorching heat at the Bava Park, Boroko as they battled it out to see who would take the top spot.AES fielded a much younger team who were more athletic, faster in skills and ball work, maintaining the lead in the first half, 16 points to PX falcons 4. But that didn�t stop the more experienced PX falcons from coming back. They surely mean business in the second half, bringing the score-line to level with ASE, 26 all and just minutes before full time, a successful conversion saw them taking over the lead, winning the game by 2 points, 28 to ASE 26.

FIRST FEMALE LICENSED AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (LAME) ON DASH
28 year old Elena Mai has become Air Niugini�s if not Papua New Guinea�s first female Mechanical Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) on Dash 8 aircraft. From a mixed parentage of East New Britain, Gulf and Central Provinces, Elena is one of four female Air Niugini LAMEs, the other three women are licensed on Fokker jet aircraft. Being a licensed engineer,� Elena can now give approval for the release of Dash 8 aircraft to service following maintenance. Before signing the document of approval, Elena must be satisfied with the works, she thoroughly checks to ensure the maintenance is completed to the highest standard and is carried out in accordance with Papua New Guinea Civil Aviation Rules and Regulations.

PX Falcons Set For 2019 Corporate 9s Finals
Air Niugini�s PX Falcons will take on Avenell Engineering Services in the Corporate Rugby 9s final playoffs in Port Moresby this weekend. Falcon�s team manager, Kenneth Kodor said although most of their players are new, preparations are well underway and he is confident of them doing well. He said �Our opponents AES finished 16th, however they have beaten some of the more experienced and better teams so we won�t be taking them lightly.� ” I have trust and confidence in the skills and effort displayed by our boys throughout the season and if they could maintain their performance, we should be on our way.�

The first ever annual John Kilawari Polume (JKP) Memorial Cup Dart competition for Air Niugini staff ended on a high note over the weekend with the finals played. Team Terminals, also the minor premiers in the competition, won the Cup title after defeating Team IT in a close encounter. The JKP Cup competition pays tribute to a former long service staff the Late John Kilawari Polume who served Air Niugini for 30 years before his passing on October 6, 2018. He was the Pricing Manager at the Pricing and Tariffs Department at the time of his passing.

Kumul Legend And Air Niugini Staff Member , Richard Wagambie
It was an emotional moment for PNG Kumuls legend Richard Wagambie wearing the PNG colours again after 28 years since playing an international Test match. The former Kumuls Test Center and Air Niugini staff member was included in the Kumuls Legends team as coach/player who played against the Brisbane Broncos legends on Saturday, 31 August 2019 at the Oil Search National Football Stadium(NFS) in Port Moresby. Wagambie, who hails from Tui village, Hawain in Wewak, East Sepik Province, recalled wearing the Kumul jumper again which brought back a lot of memories and emotions.

Air Niugini Increases Domestic Services
In line with Air Niugini�s Domestic Service Excellence program, and to provide more seats in preparation for the busy festive/Christmas period, the national airline has increased flight frequencies around the domestic network. Air Niugini now has more flights to Goroka, Lae, Madang, Wewak, Vanimo, Manus, Kavieng, Hoskins and Rabaul. Meanwhile NAC�s airport runway upgrade works continue in Mount Hagen, Tari and Mendi, with Wapenamanda to commence on 09th October.

Public Warned Not To Buy Or Resell Special Tickets
Air Niugini wishes to advise the travelling public not to buy or re-sell special Independence Flash Sale tickets that were purchased at K44. This follows reports that some of these heavily discounted tickets were being sold to the public for higher price than the initial price at which the tickets were purchased. We appeal to the public not to purchase these tickets as they are not transferrable as per the conditions of the fare, and have already been cancelled. Passengers holding onto such tickets will be denied boarding.
